In GSTimes news stories, reporters strive to adhere to practices that will ensure accurate information and ethically produced stories by following guidelines established by The News Literacy Project, a non-profit dedicated to quality journalism.

The Seven Standards

Quality Standards of Journalism

  1. Multiple Credible Sources – eyewitness, official, expert
  2. Verification – the process of checking, confirming, information and facts
  3. Avoidance of Bias – Presenting the facts and content in as fair and accurate a manner as possible
  4. Balance – Representing multiple sides of the issue, event or controversy without giving unfair weight to one side or point of view. 
  5. Documentation – data reports, videos, photos or audio
  6. Context – Presenting the facts in such a way that makes their meaning clear, fair, and accurate
  7. Fairness – Treating sources and subjects with appropriate respect, and giving subjects a chance to share their points of view and respond to any assertions or allegations about them.
